This picture, taken circa 1893 in Huntsville, Schuyler County, Illinois shows Margaret Maude Moore when she was sixteen years old. Born in Huntsville, October 30, 1876, Maude was the youngest of three children born to William Thomas Moore and Sarah Frances Bagby.

Her two older brothers, also born in Huntsville, were George Emmett Moore, born May 24, 1866, and Homer Otis Moore, born August 30, 1871. George married October 31, 1888, Sara Josephine Lillard, in Schuyler County, Illinois. He died February 2, 1921, Estherville, Emmet County, Iowa. Homer married Cornelia Adell Wood, November 19, 1890 and died September 27, 1948, in Augusta, Hancock County, Illinois.

Maude's father, William Thomas Moore, born October 8, 1827, arrived in Schuyler County with his parents and three brothers and three sisters in 1838. They removed from New Harrisburg, Carroll County, Ohio, where his grandparents and parents had settled after emigrating from Caven County, Ireland. William's parents, Thomas Moore (March 10, 1800 - November 3, 1882) and Jane C. Scott (March 10, 1806 - October 3, 1853), and his step-mother, Nancy Sullivan (August 24, 1814 - January 16, 1892) are all buried in the Huntsville Cemetery.

His brothers and sisters making the move, all of whom were born in New Harrisburg, included:

Isabella Moore, born July 26, 1829
George Allen Moore, born January 6, 1831
Mary Elizabeth Moore, born May 30, 1833
Eleanor Jane Moore, born November 1, 1835

William's youngest brother, Charles Wesley Moore, was born in Huntsville, August 18, 1840.

William Thomas Moore was married first to Minerva J. Overstreet on December 24, 1850 in Schuyler County (Schuyler County license #1702, Vol 1, page 196). Minerva, born 1825, was the oldest of the seven children of Buckley and Nancy Overstreet. William and Minerva had two children in Schuyler County -- Arthur Moore, born about 1852, and Nancy Jane Moore, born June 27, 1857.  Arthur removed to Washington State while Nancy Jane remained in Schuyler County until her death, November 25, 1936. Nancy married Benjamin L. Davis in Schuyler County on December 25, 1878.

After the death of Minerva, William married second, Sarah Francis Bagby (Hancock County Vol. 4, page 6, Lic. #1418 issued Aug 18, 1863, married Aug 20, 1863, recorded Sept 2, 1863, by F. M. Corbey, Clerk.  Married by E. L. Hurd, Minister of the Gospel). Sarah Frances, known as Fanny, was born June 16, 1840 in Greenup County, Kentucky. Her parents, William Bagby (October 11, 1816 - June 15, 1908) and Eliza Waring (January 27, 1822 - January 1, 1909), both from Lewis County, Kentucky, were married in Adams County, Illinois on November 29, 1838. The both died in Augusta, Hancock County, Illinois were they are buried.

Sarah Francis Bagby had first married Sylvanus J. Bagby in Hancock County, April 16, 1857, when she was just sixteen years old. Sylvanus was born about 1833, in Louisa County, Virginia. Other than Hancock County marriage license #2927 - filed May 26, 1857, no other documentation for Sylvanus J. Bagby has been found. James Stark married Sarah and Sylvanus. Their marriage license issued April 14, 1857 by H.J Fissenden, Deputy Clerk for C. Winston, County Clerk.

Sarah Francis Bagby was the niece of William and Frances Bilderback, Frances (Bagby) Bilderback being a younger sister of Sarah's Father, William. William and Frances Bilderback arrived in Schuyler County from Kentucky in the fall of 1834 with their daughter and son. They then had three more daughters and one additional son, born Schuyler County. Sarah's father was also the second cousin of John Courts Bagby, an early lawyer practicing in Schuyler County.

Maude's parents both died in Estherville, Emmet County, Iowa - her father William, September 15, 1890, her mother Fanny, March 26, 1923.

Margaret Maude Moore married Jay Henry Dunham, October 4, 1898. Jay was born February 13, 1879, in Bennington Township, Mower County, Minnesota. He was a second generation Railroad Engineer for the Rock Island Railroad.  They had
two children,  Helen Elizabeth Dunham and William Henry Errett Dunham.

Helen was born April 03, 1899 in Estherville, Emmet County, Iowa and died 1986, in Sacramento, Sacramento County, California. Errett was also born in Estherville on December 12, 1900.  He died November 30, 1972 in Glendora, Los Angeles County, California. Errett was a Civil Engineer, head of the Design Division with the Los Angeles Flood Control District. He also served with the Army Corps of Engineers during WWII and Korea, having obtained the rank of Brig. General. He retired in 1960 with 32-years with Los Angeles County and 30-years in the Army.

Jay Henry Dunham died December 10, 1949 in Estherville, Emmet County, Iowa and is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville, Emmet County, Iowa. Maude lived with her son, Errett for the last three years of her life and passed away February 01, 1960 in Glendora, Los Angeles County, California. She is buried next to her husband in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville, Emmet County, Iowa.

Maude was an accomplished pianist and taught piano for many years and played up until her death. An active Presbyterian, she attended church until her failing health no longer permitted.
