Notes for SYDNEY A. WILLEY:
According to William's Pension records, Sydney suffered from epileptic seizures.  Hattie Ledsome (their granddaughter) believes that her grandmother died from small pox which she contracted from the grandchildren.

Notes for WILLIAM PRITCHARD KING:
William enlisted into the Union Army for the second time on March 15, 1864 at Wheeling, WV.  He was honorably dischared from an Independant Barrery stationed at Wheeling the day before.  He became a private in Company A of the 7th West Virginia Infantry.  The regiment, also known as the Bloody Seventh, served in the II Corps with the Army of the Potomac.  They fought in several engagements including the Battle of the Wilderness, Spotsylvania and the Siege of Petersburg.  They were at Appomatox when Lee surrendered to Grand and they participated in the Grand Review on Mary 23-24, 1865 at Washington, DC.  On May 10, 1864 near the Po River (the army was moving from the Wilderness to Spotsylvania), William was resting with some buddies on a knoll after coming off picket duty.  An artillary shell landed near them and kicked up a tree limb which hit William on the head.  He suffered from this injury for the rest of his life.

Parker Message, Friday, December 27, 1912 - William GRIFFITH of Centerville Township departed this life December 21, 1912, age 76 years, 9 months. and 17 days. He was born March 3, 1836, in Schuyler County, Illinois, in Brooklyn Township. He was united in marriage with Mary DIXON on April 17 (no year shown).
Eight children, five sons and three daughters were born. John GRIFFITH of LaCygne, Zack GRIFFITH of Parker, Perry and Lan GRIFFITH of Parker, Mrs. Nancy HODGSON and Mrs. John BARNETT, east of Parker. The first death in this family occured December 19, 1906, when death claimed their son Obe. Two years later of February 13, 1908, he was followed by his sister Mrs. Eva McBRIDE and on March 5, 1909 and his companion preceded him after over 50 years of marriage. They moved to Linn County in 1867 and settled on their homestead. He leaves to mourn besides the above mentioned children, 24 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Burial was at Walnut Grove Cemetery. [My note: William is the son of Obediah Griffith who moved to Schuyler County, Illinois, in 1833 and lived there until his death. The son, Obe is named after his grandfather. The setting of the above obit is in Linn County, Kansas.]

Notes for SYDNEY A. WILLEY:
According to William's Pension records, Sydney suffered from epileptic seizures.  Hattie Ledsome (their granddaughter) believes that her grandmother died from small pox which she contracted from the grandchildren.

Notes for WILLIAM PRITCHARD KING:
William enlisted into the Union Army for the second time on March 15, 1864 at Wheeling, WV.  He was honorably dischared from an Independant Barrery stationed at Wheeling the day before.  He became a private in Company A of the 7th West Virginia Infantry.  The regiment, also known as the Bloody Seventh, served in the II Corps with the Army of the Potomac.  They fought in several engagements including the Battle of the Wilderness, Spotsylvania and the Siege of Petersburg.  They were at Appomatox when Lee surrendered to Grand and they participated in the Grand Review on Mary 23-24, 1865 at Washington, DC.  On May 10, 1864 near the Po River (the army was moving from the Wilderness to Spotsylvania), William was resting with some buddies on a knoll after coming off picket duty.  An artillary shell landed near them and kicked up a tree limb which hit William on the head.  He suffered from this injury for the rest of his life.

Parker Message, Friday, December 27, 1912 - William GRIFFITH of Centerville Township departed this life December 21, 1912, age 76 years, 9 months. and 17 days. He was born March 3, 1836, in Schuyler County, Illinois, in Brooklyn Township. He was united in marriage with Mary DIXON on April 17 (no year shown).
Eight children, five sons and three daughters were born. John GRIFFITH of LaCygne, Zack GRIFFITH of Parker, Perry and Lan GRIFFITH of Parker, Mrs. Nancy HODGSON and Mrs. John BARNETT, east of Parker. The first death in this family occured December 19, 1906, when death claimed their son Obe. Two years later of February 13, 1908, he was followed by his sister Mrs. Eva McBRIDE and on March 5, 1909 and his companion preceded him after over 50 years of marriage. They moved to Linn County in 1867 and settled on their homestead. He leaves to mourn besides the above mentioned children, 24 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Burial was at Walnut Grove Cemetery. [My note: William is the son of Obediah Griffith who moved to Schuyler County, Illinois, in 1833 and lived there until his death. The son, Obe is named after his grandfather. The setting of the above obit is in Linn County, Kansas.]
