George Washington1 GARRETT, son of Thomas GARRETT and Susanna WEIGART,
was born in Lexington County, KY 16 Apr 1818. George died 14 Apr 1911 in
Franklin, Franklin County, NE, at 92 years of age. His body was interred
16 April 1911 in Franklin County, NE, Green wood Cemetery.
He
married twice. He married Delilah LUTTRELL in Schuyler County, IL, 10 Apr
1843. Delilah was born in Tennessee 5 Dec 1818. Delilah was the daughter
of Shelton LUTTRELL and Sarah Ann BRYANT. Delilah died 23 Dec 1887 in Franklin,
Franklin County, NE, at 69 years of age. Her body was interred 1887 in

Delilah
Garrett, wife of George W. Garrett, died at her home in Franklin county,
Nebraska last Friday. She moved from Browning Township to Nebraska some
ten years ago. she is the daughter of Mrs. Sarah Luttrell.
He
married Nancy Ann BRADLEY in Schuyler County, IL, 19 Sep 1888. Nancy was
born in PA 17 Apr 1835. Nancy was the daughter of Samuel BRADLEY. Nancy
died 12 Dec 1905 in Browning Twp, Schuyler Co. IL, at 70 years of age.

Nancy
A Bradley was born April 17 1835 in Pennsylvania, and died at the home
of her daughter Mrs. C.C. Geiman of Bader, ILL. Dec 12th 1905, aged 70
years, 6 months and 26 days. she came to the state of Ill in the fall of
1848, was married to Bryant O, Garrett March 2, 1854. To this union three
children were born, Medora E, Rhinaldo, and Bryant H. C. Garrett. Her second
marriage (to John P. Young) took place Mar 1 1868, at Pleasantville ILL.
Of this union there were born Paul B, Cynthia J, and Sarah M. Of these
two families those who survive the deceased are Medora E. Ambrosius, now
residing in Missouri, Paul B. Young, in the state of Washington; Cynthia
Young and Mrs. Sarah M. Geiman, residing in Bader, ILL. The deceased was
later married to G. W. Garrett, who still survives her. Up to the time
of her death she was a faithful and obedient christian, having professed
her faith in Christ in October of 1862, during the ministry of E. L. Craig
of Carrollton, ILL There still survive of her brothers and sister, Mrs.
Mary Westlake of Vermont, ILl and T.H. Bradley of Chicago.
George
Washington Garrett was born on Apr 16 1818 in Lexington, KY, He died on
Apr 14, 1911 in Franklin County, NE. The Following information is written
on the back of his picture in Possession of Sunnie Skiles " George W. Garrett,
my Grandfather joined a wagon Train from St Louis through Illinois home
at Browning, Illinois and went to California in 1849 and found Gold. He
came home and later made a second trip around the horn and worked his way
to San Francisco, CA, Then back home and then the family moved to NE and
all took homesteads and lived there until his death.

by Granddaughter Esther Garrett Swanson. G.W Garrett's parents were Tommy
and Susan Garrett, He had a paper mill and moved to Ill when a young man.
He married Delilah Luttrell. he was a farmer when first married but was
very handy with tools, could do carpenter work, Blacksmith, made many of
his own tools. In 1849 He and his younger Brother Bryant started with a
group of others for the gold fields being opened in Calif. Followed the
Oregon Trail. Brother Bryant had red hair and Indians that they encountered
didn't like red hair so he avoided being seen as much as possible. The
found gold and returned to Illinois and purchased land. In 1856 they took
a second trip which turned out about the same, On the second trip he sold
equipment and went home by ship around the continent and up the river .
helped pay expenses by making wagon spokes for others in the party, He
made a scraper deal which he used for his work,( Have one of these in the
family yet) He And Delilah had 10 Children and in 1877 moved to Macon.
Lived to be 93. died in Franklin. NE ( Next to youngest child John is Mary
and Bruce's Grandfather,) G. W. farmed near Macon retired to Franklin,
Bought land in Colorado when sons Bill and John went there to homestead,
( Mary Poore has a gold nugget that was given to John Garrett by his father
G.W. that was from the gold fields, Also has the telescope they took with
them in their trip.) This is copied word for word from papers given to
me by Mary Poore and Sunnie Skiles.

Washington Garrett was born at Lexington, Kentucky , April 16, 1818. He
moved with his family to Schuyler Co., Illinois in 1836 where he lived
until he came to Franklin Co, in 1877, In 1886 he moved to Franklin and
resided here until his death which occurred April 14, 1911 at 6 a.m. The
immediate cause of his death was haemorrhage of the stomach. He was converted
at the age of twenty-six and united with the Christian Church. In 1843
he was married to Delilah Luttrell, to which union nine children were born
all of whom are living, as is also one adopted son Will. the wife died
in Franklin December 23, 1887. there are left to mourn "Grandpa's" death
two sisters and the ten children, five girls and five boys. Joan and Susan
live in Illinois, Will and Morgan live in Colorado, John at McCook, Sarah,
Martha, Peter, Thomas and Nancy in Franklin. Also thirty-six grand-children
and down to the fifth generation. The funeral was held on his 93rd birthday
at the M.E. Church. Rev Gilpin conducting the service. He was buried in
Greenwood cemetery under the auspices of the I.O.O.F. lodge of which he
was probably the oldest member in the state. Not often is a community called
to mourn with a family so many of whom are our friends and neighbors. But
the mourning must end in consolation when we know the lost one has gone
where" They'll never say, Goodby"

Her body was interred aft 28 Feb 1946 in Franklin County, NE, Green wood
cemetery. She married Daniel W BAKER in Franklin County, NE, 2 Sep 1879.
Daniel was born in Big Rock, Scott County, Iowa 2 Sep 1854. Daniel was
the son of David BAKER and Betsy M. Daniel died 21 mar 1939 in Franklin
County, NE, at 84 years of age. Raised Bird Garrett, son of Peter Garrett
and Harriet Husted according to the 1900 census Bird is listed as adopted

Jun 1844. Joanna died 24 May 1931 in Schuyler County, IL, at 86 years of
age. She married Louis Byron RENO in Schuyler County, IL, aft 1865.
Louis was born in IL 12 Oct 1832. Louis was the son of Charles RENO and
Rebecca SKILES. Louis died 14 Oct 1912 in Schuyler County, IL, at 80 years

Andrew Morgan2 GARRETT (George Washington1) was born in Schuyler County,
IL 30 Sep 1845. Andrew died Aug 1917 in Brush, Colorado, at 71 years of
age. He married twice. He married Margaret E HAMILTON in Schuyler
County, IL, 2 Aug 1868. Margaret was born in IL 2 Apr 1851. Margaret
died 20 Sep 1879 in Franklin County, NE, at 28 years of age. Her
body was interred in Franklin County, NE, Chitwood/Blauvelt Cemetery. He
married Ida T MILLER in Franklin County, NE, 20 Mar 1884. Ida was born
in IL 8 Nov 1863. Ida died 1933 in Brush, Colorado, at 69 years of age.

Co. IL 10 Oct 1847. Sarah died 21 Mar 1934 in Moline, NE, at 86 years of

She married Lewis B SKILES in Schuyler County, IL, 29 Oct 1868. Lewis was
born in Browning Twp, Schuyler Co. IL 31 Jan 1847. Lewis was the son of
Moses Justus SKILES and Melinda LYNCH. Lewis died 7 Aug 1900 in Moline,
NE, at 53 years of age. His body was interred aft 7 Aug 1900 in Moline,

Twp, Schuyler Co. IL 24 Sep 1849. Martha died 26 Feb 1930 in Franklin County,
NE, at 80 years of age. Her body was interred Green Wood Cemetery. She
married Thomas Jefferson LYNCH in Schuyler County, IL, 3 Mar 1869. Thomas
was born 15 Apr 1848. Thomas was the son of Absolom LYNCH and Jane OSBORN.

Peter Clay2 GARRETT (George Washington1) was born in Schuyler County, IL
10 May 1852. Peter died 9 May 1924 in Torrington Wy, at 71 years of age.
His body was interred 13 May 1924 in Franklin County, NE, Green wood Cemetery.
He married twice. He married Harriet HUSTED in Schuyler County, IL, 30
Nov 1876. Harriet was born 10 Apr 1853. Harriet died 6 Dec 1886 in Franklin
County, NE, at 33 years of age. He married Mary Lucinda LORING abt 1888.
Mary was born in Schuyler County, IL 28 Jan 1860. Mary was the daughter
of John Henry LORING and Lucinda UTTER. Mary died 6 Apr 1940 in Torrington
Wy, at 80 years of age. Her body was interred in Franklin County, NE, Green
wood Cemetery.

Thomas Jefferson2 GARRETT (George Washington1) was born in Schuyler County,
IL 3 Dec 1854. Thomas died 7 Jan 1944 in Franklin County, NE, at 89 years
of age. He married Lula JOHNSON 13 Sep 1877. Lula was born 1859. Lula died
1946 at 87 years of age.

Susanna2 GARRETT (George Washington1) was born in Schuyler County, IL 18
Jul 1857. Susanna died 29 Mar 1923 in Camden, Schuyler County, IL, at 65

County, IL, West Cemetery. She married Elijah AMBROSIUS in Schuyler County,
IL, 7 Sep 1876. Elijah was born in Pleasantville, Schuyler County,IL 14
Jul 1854. Elijah was the son of Philip C. AMBROSIUS and Matilda SUDDETH.

NE, at 85 years of age. His body was interred 31 Jan 1949 in McCook, Red
Willow County, NE, Memorial Park Cemetery. He married Mary Emma MOORE in
Alma, Harlan County, NE, Dec 1887. Mary was born in Clinton County, NY
27 Oct 1870. Mary was the daughter of Thomas MOORE and Sarah Rabena GIBSON.
Mary died 25 Apr 1926 in McCook, Red Willow County, NE, at 55 years of
