Mrs. Mary Lung
(Obituary, Rushville Times, February 1887)
" Mrs. Mary Lung died Saturday at home of niece, Mrs. Hester Patteson (of Rushville) of general debility. Taken to Clayton for burial. Mrs. Mary M. Lung was born in Sussex Co., Delaware Sept. 5, 1812, died in Rushville Feb. 5, 1887 at he residence of her niece, Mrs. Hester Patteson. Her remains were taken to Clayton and interred in the Clayton Cemetery by the side of her husband who had preceded her to a better world. Mrs. Lung was the youngest and last of nine children, all of whom were members ;of the M. E. Church and lived and died faithful Christians. She converted and joined the M. E. Church, when 13 years of age, and from that time her course in the Christian way was steadily onward and upward. Although she had no children of her own, she assisted in raising eighteen, some of them her step-children and some of them orphans without homes or friends. They found in her a friend indeed, and now raise up and call her blessed. As the opportunity was given in the church for friends to take the farewell look at her dear peaceful face, a young man rushed out from the congregation leading a little child by the hand, and bending over the coffin with sobs and tears, called endearing names, "his best friend, his more than Mother". He was a homeless orphan of three or four years of age when she took him in and toiled for him with loving hands. He grew to man's estate honest and upright, and is now prospering in a home of his own. Truly she needs no eulogy. Her life speaks for itself. A short time before she died she said, "Oh, that I could stand up the mountain top, and my voice could be heard by the whole world, I would preach Christ". As friends gathered around the casket, old men and women with whitened heads, young men and maidens who knew and loved her, joined their voices in singing one of her favorite hymns: Blest be the tie that binds, our hearts in Christian love. And as they sang the gloom of death rolled away and a sweet and solemn peace settled down in every heart. "Let me die the death of the righteous and let my last end be like his"."
Jonas R. Lung
(Obituary, Rushville Times, January 1893)
"Jonas Lung, an old and well known farmer of Camden Township, died Last Saturday from the injuries he received by falling from his wagon on Dec. 27th. He was born in Kentucky in 1832, his parents locating in this country when he was a boy. He leaves a wife and five children. Funeral services were held at his residence on Sunday, conducted by Rev. "John Wesley Marlow -- John Wesley Marlow was born Aug 16, 1840, and departed this life Aug. 3, 1924, at his home in Rushville, Ill., where he had resided for five years, formerly living on a farm in Camden township. To his marriage, August 15, 1861, with Eliza Jane Green, who passed away in the year 1881, were born seven children, all preceding him in death, except one son, Henry Marlow, and one daughter, Rosetta Lung, both of Camden. February 1, 1883, he was united in marriage to Jemima Weightman. To them were born six children: Asa W. Marlow, deceased, Martha Rice of Santa Barbara, California; Gertrude Davis of Rushville, John Jr. of Macomb, Minnie Davis and Ruth Morrell both of Camden, all of whom, with his wife, did all in their power to relieve his suffering and prolong his life. Las April he was attached by the afflictions which ended his earthly life, but especially during the last ten weeks, which time he was unable to leave his bed, did he show the patient and uncomplaining spirit which characterized his life. He was converted early in life and has ever since recognized God as the giver of all good, and acknowledged Jesus as his Savior. He realized his physical conditions and expressed the wish many times that his spirit might go to its heavenly home, leaving his testimony that his way was clear and he was ready and willing to go. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife and children, on brother, Levi S. Marlow of Camden, twenty-two grand-children, twenty-two great-grand-children, and many other relatives and friends he had gained during his long life on earth. "The truest end of life is to know the life that never ends." Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon August 5th at the Bethany church in Camden township. Interment was in the Camden cemetery. At the request of deceased his lifelong friend, Levi Agans, conducted the services, assisted by the pastor of the Camden M. E. church.”
Rosetta Marlow Horst
(Obituary, Rushville Times, February 1959)
"Rosetta Marlow Horst -- Rosetta Marlow, sixth child of Liza Jane Green and John Wesley Marlow was born in Camden township, December 10, 1869 and departed this life February 4, 1959, being 89 years, one month, and 25 days. On April 21, 1889, Rosetta and Albert Lung were married. Eleven children came to bless this happy home. Three sons, Raleigh, Roy, Wesley Lee, and Verney Floyd died at a very young age. Their father passed away March 5, 1934. After a brief courtship, Rosetta and Jakie Horst were married October 4, 1935, and lived in happy companionship until Jakie was called home September 16, 1952. Mother was never happier than when in her home, singing, whistling, and being with her family. Left to mourn her passing are five daughters, Mrs. Gertie Harrison and Mrs. Nettie Reeder of Rushville; Mrs. Belle Lear of Flint, Mich.; Mrs. Elsie Leverton and Mrs. Grace Long of Camden; three sons, Henry and Ernest of Camden; Everett of Brooklyn; 25 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren; one half brother, John Marlow of California and four half sisters, Mrs. Nellie Ruth Marlow of Camden, Mrs. Gertrude Davis, Mrs. Martha Rice, and Mrs. Minnie Egan all of California, besides a host of relatives and friends. Services were held Saturday, February 7 at 1:00 p. m. at Voorhees-Hursey funeral home. Rev. Earl Stambaugh of Browning officiated. Burial was in Marlow Cemetery."
Everett Lung

"Funeral for Everett Lung Held Here on Sunday - Everett Orlo Lung, 66, of Brooklyn died at the Culbertson hospital Thursday evening.. He was admitted to the hospital on Monday. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Roby Funeral chapel at Rushville with the Rev. Harvey Anderson officiating. Burial was in the Rushville cemetery. Mr. Lung was born in Camden township, Schuyler county, Dec. 2 1902, the son of Albert and Rosetta Marlow Lung. He married Verna Haber in Rushville May 3, 1931. He later married Cloah Lung in Macomb on April 28, 1951. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Betty Neff of Champaign and Mrs. Lois Rittenhouse of Macomb; one son, John W. of Quincy; four step-daughters, Mrs. Edna Peterson of Brooklyn, Mrs. Helen Caldwell of Macomb, Mrs. Emma Vouter of Macomb and Mrs. Theda Bedwell of Peoria; one step-son, Roy Lung of Canton; eight grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Harrison of Rushville, Mrs. Elsie Leverton of Beardstown, Mrs. Grace Tolles of Beardstown, and Mrs. Nettie Reeder of Rushville; and two brothers, Henry and Ernest, both of Camden."
Verna Haber
(Obituary, Verna Haber, Rushville Times, Mar 1997)
"BEARDSTOWN - Verna Haber, 81, of Beardstown died Monday evening (March 3, 1997) at the home of her son in Springfield. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sager Funeral Home, 202 E. 8th St., Beardstown. Burial will be in Rushville City Cemetery, Rushville. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Haber was born June 17, 1915, in Schuyler County, a daughter of William and Alta Morehead Walker. She married Thomas Haber. He died in 1964. Survivors include a son, John Lung of Springfield; two daughters, Betty Neff of Champaign, and Lois Rittenhouse of Colchester; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters. Mrs. Haber attended Schuyler County schools. She previously worked for Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville and Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Beardstown. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Sangamon County.”
