F. M. Wardell
Francis Marion, the oldest son of Samuel and Isabella Brown Wardell,
was born in Schuyler county, Feb. 2, 1843, and passed away Jan. 9, 1928 after a brief illness, age 84 years, 11 months and 7
days.
He was united in marriage to Nancy Robbins, Dec. 25, 1873, at the home
where he passed away. His wife preceded him in death about ten months ago.
To this union were born nine children, two dying in infancy. The
surviving children are: Mrs. Sheridan Tharp, Lester and Harry of Rushville; James of Colmar, Ill.; Earl of Crookston, Minn; Sammie
and Myrtle at home.
He also leaves to mourn his loss, twelve grandchildren, three
great-grandchildren and two brothers, Joseph and John, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn the loss of a kind father and
neighbor who was ever ready to lend a helping hand to those in need and around the community where he spent his entire
life.
Funeral services were held at Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, Jan. 11th
at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Fred Wilson. The interment was in the Palm cemetery.
