Glen R., Hanning, 82, of Huntsville, died Friday, March 16, 2007, at Snyder's
Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.
He was born Jan. 27, 1925, in rural Huntsville, son of Joseph Warden & Ruth Jane Tyree Hanning.
He married Mary Maree Bovey Sept. 27, 1952, at the First Christian Church in Rushville. She died July 5, 2002.
He is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Hanning (husband David Childress) of Dana, Ind., Peggy Dillon of Gaffney, S.C., and
Nancy Willis of Thomson; two sons, Danny Hanning (wife Janet) of Huntsville, and Robert Hanning of Huntsville; 12 grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; one sister, Fern Moore, and one brother, Gale Hanning (wife Joan), all of Rushville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Anna Mae Newton, Irma Icenogle and Hazel Hanning.
He graduated from Augusta High School in 1942 and was a life-long farmer. He was a member of the First Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) of Rushville.
He was a charter member and past president of the Illinois Association for Advancement of Archaeology; member and past
president of the Illinois Association of Advancement of Archaeology, member and past president of Siloam Springs Earth Science Club, member
and past president of the Midwest Federation of Mineralogical and Geological Societies, member and past president of the American
Mineralogical and Geological Society, member and past president of the Two Rivers Archaeological Society, and member and past president of
the Mississippi Valley Archaeological Society.
He gave many programs on Archaeology, rocks and minerals for many school classes and civic groups.
He was a former member and past president of the Schuyler Unit District No. 1 School Board, served on the Schuyler Home
Extension Board and was an election judge in Huntsville Township for many years.
He taught and called square dancing classes for Spoon River College and numerous 4-H Clubs.
Funeral services were Monday, March 19, at the Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Dr. E. Ambrose Stump and David
Haney officiating. Interment was in the Huntsville Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Schuyler County E.M.S. or Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing
Home.
