James M. Vahle
James H. Vahle, aged twenty-eight was electrocuted while screwing a lightbulb into a socket near the Cofferdam at Lock No 18,
several miles below Oquawka, one day last week. The electrocution occurred while Wahle was standing in water. It is
beleived he touched the back of his hand to the socket or wire while screwing in the bulb, as one hand was burned. He was
instantly killed.
