Joseph Willison Campbell

Joseph Willison Campbell, son of Joseph and Elizabeth Campbell, was born in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, Jan 29th 1843, and departed this life Feb.20, 1917, at his home near Rushville, aged 74 years and 22 days.  At the age of eighteen he answered his country's call for volunteers, enlisting in Co.D, 115th Ill. Volunteers, serving for three years, being honorably discharged in June 1865. 

On Oct 25,1865, he was united in marriage to Martha Ann Teel, who departed life March 25th, 1868.  To this union was born one daughter Clara May, who died at the age of 19 years. He was united in marriage Oct 25th 1870, to Elizabeth McNeeley, and to this union was born nine children, three girls and six boys.  Minnie Viola Martin, who died at the age of 22 years;Charles T. Of Clayton; Inza A. Martin of McComb; Robert, who died in infancy; James E of near Browning; Insia E and Austin of Macomb; Valentine, who resides at home, and Oatis of Near Browning who with their aged mother, one stepdaughter, Amanda Davis of Rushville,one half brother, John Roudebush of Augusta, 28 grand-children and five great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and
friends, are left to mourn his loss.

He was for years a member of the Missionary Baptist church, a kind and loving husband, an indulgent father and a friend to all who knew him.
Funeral services were held at the home on Thursday at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. and Mrs. Batterton of Beardstown. Interment in Good Hope Cemetery.
