Sterling Journal-Advocate, Sterling, Logan Co., Colorado, Tuesday, Nov. 7, 1972, page 3 Lydia Mitchell of Sterling Dies; Rites Thursday Funeral services for Lydia J. Mitchell, 91, of 417 Douglas will be conducted 10 a.m., Thursday, from the Walters-Chaney Funeral Home, the Rev. Ivan E. Rundus officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Mitchell, a resident of Logan County since 1918, died Monday in a Sterling hospital. She was born Oct. 17, 1881, in Shelden Grove, Ill., the daughter of Nathan Wilson and Barbara Lauderback (sic), she married Harry Holmes in 1906 and he died in 1910. In 1917 she married Frank Mitchell in McCook, Neb., and the couple came to Logan County from Illinois. Mr. Mitchell died Dec. 5, 1945, Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two daughters; a sister, Mrs. Blanche Hall of Avon, Illinois; a niece Mrs. Blanche Burck of Sterling; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Walters-Chaney Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
