I am looking for others who are researching Barron and Riley families in Schuyler Co. mid 1800s. My ggggrandmother Caroline Riley married Joseph Barron. At the time they were in Fayette Co. Illinois. Caroline was the daughter of George W. and America (???) Riley. She had the following siblings: William, America, Sarah, John A. and Elizabeth all born between 1840 and 1850. George claimed to be from North Carolina and would have been born about 1813. America claimed to be from Kentucky and would have been born about 1824. I have noticed that there are other Riley and Barron Families in Schuyler CO. More over the children's name follow the same pattern that is in my family. I am hoping that there might be a connection and that some one can help me if this sounds familiar.

Still seeking info on WILLIAM BARKER and his family. William was a Black HawkWar Veteran. On the 1850 Schuyler census he says he is from VA, on the1860 Census he says he is from OH. His wive's name was Katherine "Kitty", last name unknown. She died Aug, 25, 1866 and is buried in Rushville. Would like to be able to find out Katherine's maiden name. Henry D.GOLLIHER who married Salena E. ADAMS on Aug 6, 1876 in Schuyler Co. IL. They had 2 known sons: 1) William J. GOLLIHER who lived in Cooperstown, Brown Co IL in 1940. Unknown what became of William. 2) Burford "Mac" GOLLIHER born March 28, 1877 in Schuyler Co. IL. Burford married Elva RAMSON on Dec 15 1898 in Schuyler Co IL. He died Oct 28, 1940 in Quincy, IL. According to Burford's obit he lived in Quincy, Adams County, IL several years and then moved to West Point, Hancock Co. IL. He had 2 sons and a daughter who married Fred MOORE. Burford had half brothers, George and John BLACK and a half sister Mrs. Charles WARDELL. Seeking contact with anyone with information on these people. Thank you in advance.

i am searching for the James D. Thompson and Elizabeth Augusta Hammer famililes.I think augusta was the daughter of George Washington hammer and Susanna Harlan, but was shown living with the MCkamey in They were married in schuyler county Illinois. My great grandmother Wilmetta was one of their children. does anyone have any information on this family? i think augusta died around 1881 but have been unable to locate her grave. i do not know when James D. died but i think it may have been around 1910. my ggrandmother wilmetta married Thomas caster and had twins, Irma and Irvin caster born Jan 12 1910. irvin died in Mexico Missouri at the home of his aunt ida ritter. Has anyone in rushville illinois heard of any of these people because i have hit a brick wall, this is a large blended family how did they all disappear.......? thanks

I am trying to find some information on a Anna Reeves-Reaves that lived in Schuyler county and died there. She was married to a man named William Lee. Era around 1850-1854. She was killed by bushwackers along with a child. And also trying to find a Frances Tippett or family of the same county.. She is believed to of been from that area also.. If anyone has any information on these families. I would like a reply.. Or a direction to where else to look.. I would like to find obit.. cemetery of where Anna is buried. or sibilings and parents.. I am looking for information on the SNIDER and WISBY families that lived in Schuyler County from the 1830's until the 1850's or so. James Snider and his daughter Nancy Melissa (who married Alfred W. McCarty in Kansas) are my ancestors. James had a brother or father named Jacob SNYDER who came to Schuyler County in 1834. James Snider married Nancy Ann Wisby, daughter of Thomas and Nancy (EWING) Wisby. James moved to Linn County, Kansas in 1858. I'd be happy to share what I have.

My ggg grandparents were Luke Seeley and Electe Owen Seeley. I am looking for burial places for Luke Seeley died Oct 15, 1856 in Rushville, ILL. and Electe who died May 10, 1834 in Rushville, ILL. Some information I do have is- Their Children were E.O.H. Seeley-an undertaker in Rushville, Mattthew Malone Seeley, Nathaniel B Seeley, Mary E. Seeley (my gg grand mother, married to William Ransom Allphin). After the death of my ggg grandmother Electe, Luke married Susan Willoughby. NANCY [COWAN] McCULLOUGH died in Doddsville and is buried there with her twin children. I would like conformation on this.

HUGH McCULLOUGH husband of NANCY then remarried to SARAH/SALLY SLOAN.

HUGH & NANCY along with their children are in the 1860 census, Littleton, Schuyler, IL

HUGH & SARAH along with children are in the 1870 census, Littleton, Schuyler, IL

I have lost them after that and would like to know where HUGH McCULLOUGH died and is buried.

He was in the civil war 124th inf, IL

He was 53 in 1870 census.

Can anyone help me find information on this family?

Dear family member,

My Grandmother is Ivy Mae Graves, she is the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Allphin and Joseph Graves (my g grandparents). Mary Elizabeth Allphin is the daughter of Homer Poet Allphin and America Ellen Cenoggle (my gg grandparents). Homer is the son of William Allphin and Mary Seeley (my ggg grandparents). Mary Seeley is the daughter of Luke and Electe Owen (my gggg grandparents).

I am just starting to do my family history to pass on to my two children (and the twin grandsons due in October) and would like to know more.

Searching for information on America Ellen Cenoggle B < 1856 in Rushville, Schuyler, Ill., AND her parents (names unknown at this point to me). No mention so far as to a date of death or where it occurred for America. She married Homer Poet Allphin (date not shown on search chart). She is my Great Great Grandmother. Her husband's family's William Allphin and Mary Seeley's birthplace was Russelville, Logan, KY.

I noticed that there was another person looking for a woman named "America" with a Kentucky connection. Possibly my Great Grandmother America's parents were from Kentucky as were the Allphin's.

Are there any members of the Allphin, Icenogle, Seeley and Brumback families still living in Schuyler or Brown County?

My ancestor Ansel Adams settled in Pike county 1860. His wife Sarah Ann. died before 1863 because He remarried Honor Malehose in Schuyler Co on 9-21-1863. After the birth of 2 sons Honor died. Ansel remarried on 5-6-1867 in Schuyler co. to Mrs. Eliza Bectel. They are on the Schuyler census 1870. I would really like to know where Sarah Ann and Honor are buried. Can you be of any help? 1860 the Malehose family lived in Bainbridge twp. and 1870 Ansel lived in Camden twp. Thank you

I am Charlotte Dafoe Welch, a great grandaughter of Cyrus Graff and Mary C. Potts Graff, who originally were married and lived in Rushville until the 1880s. Mary C.Potts was born on Oct. 15, 1840. I do not know the names of her parents. I believe that they came from Ohio. It could be that her father's name was Charles or John. She had two sons with those names. They moved to Johnson County Nebraska. I am the grandaughter of their daughter, Mary Graff Dafoe. Can you help me? Thanks

I forgot to mention that Cyrus and Mary Potts Graff's son, Charles was married to Eleanor Sweeney, daughter of Thomas Sweeney of Rushville. They also moved to Nebraska, with the senior Graffs

    I am researching a James Hunter (I think his middle initial is D.) who lived around the 1860s/1870s and owned property in Schuyler, Bainbridge Township. I have an ink drawing of his home that was on the web with the same address given at the bottom of the drawing. I have searched some of the Schuyler sources online, but have had no real success.
    James Hunter was my gr gr grandfather's first cousin. His mother's maiden name would be Doherty/Dougherty. Oral history has him as a colorful character, adventurer, sportsman, and affluent.

    Have been looking for information for Julian Ballard, he is my GG Grandfather, He married Margaret Jane Frakes in 1866 and they had a daughter Susie who was born Nov. 22 1869. 1870 Census has mother & daughter living with mothers parents. Believe Julian died before Susie was born but cannot find information.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    They lived in Brooklyn twp. Also later Margaret married a Jacob Stoneking. Not sure if they married here or in Mo. as that is where she was living with family when she died.

    I am looking for the obit of Mary Newell, nee Jacobs who died in June or April of 1903. She was buried in Lawler cemetery, Bainbridge township,
Schuyler County.
    I am not sure, but believe her Father was John Jacobs. John Jacobs was Mary's brother.
    Any information would certainly be appreciated.

    Looking for information on William Gorsuch married to Mary Ann Stansberry. Both died between 1843 and 1850 in Oakland township of Schuyler Co.

Carl W. Ward - WARD
    I was informed that there were many many WARDs living in Schuyler County, Illinois in the early to late 1800's and that several of those WARD families
came from New York and many of these and/or their descendants went on to Adams County, Illinois and or to Missouri. These specific facts are important to me because my Charles WARD was born in Allegany County, New York in 1805. He is first found in civil records in 1835 in Adams County, Illinois, the county just to the West of Schuyler County and then in the 1860's migrated to Knox County, Missouri. In addition, it appears that there was someone named Charles S.Ward that was in the 1840 US Census of Schuyler County and I also have found land deed records in this county of a Charles Ward.
    I'd like to hear from anyone researching any of the WARD families in Schuyler County, but especially if they know any info about this Charles Ward that appears in some records. I'd be glad to share with you the information I have on my Charles WARD family. Thanks.

Mike Conners - CORMIN, CONNER, CONNERS
    I am looking for O.T. Cormin who would have been in the Sangamon Co. or Schulyer County around 1840 to 1850 or so. O.T. Cormin married my Harriet Conner. Harriet Conner was the daughter of Benjamin and Sarah Conner. Benjamin was born in New Jersey we think.
     Ben CONNERS died July 5, 1874 in Ashland, IL. He had real estate in Ashland. Found in estate box 12 in Virginia, IL. Heirs were (7 Children) James Conners, Jane Scott, Thomas Conners,  Robert Conners, Mary Elizabeth Plunkett, Harriet Cormin , Sarah Howard. Robert Conners was living in West Hartford, Mo.in April 1880 and Thomas Conners lived in Hannibal, Mo in April 1880.

My ggg grandparents were Luke Seeley and Electe Owen Seeley. I am looking for burial places for Luke Seeley died Oct 15, 1856 in Rushville, ILL. and Electe who died May 10, 1834 in Rushville, ILL. Some information I do have is- Their Children were E.O.H. Seeley-an undertaker in Rushville, Mattthew Malone Seeley, Nathaniel B Seeley, Mary E. Seeley (my gg grand mother, married to William Ransom Allphin). After the death of my ggg grandmother Electe, Luke married Susan Willoughby. Would love to here from anyone with information on this family.

Looking for any information on a MICHAELS family in at least 1840 in Schuyer Co. My gg grandfather was born in 1840 in Rushville. He (George Washington Michaels) had at least one brother named William H. Michaels. Parents are said to be William & Mary Jones Michaels. Thanks for any help!

NANCY [COWAN] McCULLOUGH died in Doddsville and is buried there with her twin children. I would like conformation on this.

HUGH McCULLOUGH husband of NANCY then remarried to SARAH/SALLY SLOAN.

HUGH & NANCY along with their children are in the 1860 census, Littleton, Schuyler, IL

HUGH & SARAH along with children are in the 1870 census, Littleton, Schuyler, IL

I have lost them after that and would like to know where HUGH McCULLOUGH died and is buried.

He was in the civil war 124th inf, IL

He was 53 in 1870 census.

Can anyone help me find information on this family?

My Grandmother is Ivy Mae Graves, she is the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Allphin and Joseph Graves (my g grandparents). Mary Elizabeth Allphin is the daughter of Homer Poet Allphin and America Ellen Cenoggle (my gg grandparents). Homer is the son of William Allphin and Mary Seeley (my ggg grandparents). Mary Seeley is the daughter of Luke and Electe Owen (my gggg grandparents).

I am just starting to do my family history to pass on to my two children (and the twin grandsons due in October) and would like to know more.

Searching for information on America Ellen Cenoggle B < 1856 in Rushville, Schuyler, Ill., AND her parents (names unknown at this point to me). No mention so far as to a date of death or where it occurred for America. She married Homer Poet Allphin (date not shown on search chart). She is my Great Great Grandmother. Her husband's family's William Allphin and Mary Seeley's birthplace was Russelville, Logan, KY.

I noticed that there was another person looking for a woman named "America" with a Kentucky connection. Possibly my Great Grandmother America's parents were from Kentucky as were the Allphin's.

Are there any members of the Allphin, Icenogle, Seeley and Brumback families still living in Schuyler or Brown County?

ADAMS, BECTEL, MALEHOSE
My ancestor Ansel Adams settled in Pike county 1860. His wife Sarah Ann. died before 1863 because He remarried Honor Malehose in Schuyler Co on 9-21-1863. After the birth of 2 sons Honor died. Ansel remarried on 5-6-1867 in Schuyler co. to Mrs. Eliza Bectel. They are on the Schuyler census 1870. I would really like to know where Sarah Ann and Honor are buried. Can you be of any help? 1860 the Malehose family lived in Bainbridge twp. and 1870 Ansel lived in Camden twp. Thank you

I am Charlotte Dafoe Welch, a great grandaughter of Cyrus Graff and Mary C. Potts Graff, who originally were married and lived in Rushville until the 1880s. Mary C.Potts was born on Oct. 15, 1840. I do not know the names of her parents. I believe that they came from Ohio. It could be that her father's name was Charles or John. She had two sons with those names. They moved to Johnson County Nebraska. I am the grandaughter of their daughter, Mary Graff Dafoe. Can you help me? Thanks

I forgot to mention that Cyrus and Mary Potts Graff's son, Charles was married to Eleanor Sweeney, daughter of Thomas Sweeney of Rushville. They also moved to Nebraska, with the senior Graffs

    I am researching a James Hunter (I think his middle initial is D.) who lived around the 1860s/1870s and owned property in Schuyler, Bainbridge Township. I have an ink drawing of his home that was on the web with the same address given at the bottom of the drawing. I have searched some of the Schuyler sources online, but have had no real success.
    James Hunter was my gr gr grandfather's first cousin. His mother's maiden name would be Doherty/Dougherty. Oral history has him as a colorful character, adventurer, sportsman, and affluent.

    Have been looking for information for Julian Ballard, he is my GG Grandfather, He married Margaret Jane Frakes in 1866 and they had a daughter Susie who was born Nov. 22 1869. 1870 Census has mother & daughter living with mothers parents. Believe Julian died before Susie was born but cannot find information.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    They lived in Brooklyn twp. Also later Margaret married a Jacob Stoneking. Not sure if they married here or in Mo. as that is where she was living with family when she died.

Gary Jacobs - NEWELL, JACOBS
    I am looking for the obit of Mary Newell, nee Jacobs who died in June or April of 1903. She was buried in Lawler cemetery, Bainbridge township,
Schuyler County.
    I am not sure, but believe her Father was John Jacobs. John Jacobs was Mary's brother.
    Any information would certainly be appreciated.

    Looking for information on William Gorsuch married to Mary Ann Stansberry. Both died between 1843 and 1850 in Oakland township of Schuyler Co.

Carl W. Ward - WARD
    I was informed that there were many many WARDs living in Schuyler County, Illinois in the early to late 1800's and that several of those WARD families
came from New York and many of these and/or their descendants went on to Adams County, Illinois and or to Missouri. These specific facts are important to me because my Charles WARD was born in Allegany County, New York in 1805. He is first found in civil records in 1835 in Adams County, Illinois, the county just to the West of Schuyler County and then in the 1860's migrated to Knox County, Missouri. In addition, it appears that there was someone named Charles S.Ward that was in the 1840 US Census of Schuyler County and I also have found land deed records in this county of a Charles Ward.
    I'd like to hear from anyone researching any of the WARD families in Schuyler County, but especially if they know any info about this Charles Ward that appears in some records. I'd be glad to share with you the information I have on my Charles WARD family. Thanks.

Mike Conners - CORMIN, CONNER, CONNERS
    I am looking for O.T. Cormin who would have been in the Sangamon Co. or Schulyer County around 1840 to 1850 or so. O.T. Cormin married my Harriet Conner. Harriet Conner was the daughter of Benjamin and Sarah Conner. Benjamin was born in New Jersey we think.
     Ben CONNERS died July 5, 1874 in Ashland, IL. He had real estate in Ashland. Found in estate box 12 in Virginia, IL. Heirs were (7 Children) James Conners, Jane Scott, Thomas Conners,  Robert Conners, Mary Elizabeth Plunkett, Harriet Cormin , Sarah Howard. Robert Conners was living in West Hartford, Mo.in April 1880 and Thomas Conners lived in Hannibal, Mo in April 1880.
