Application #338882 for Civil War pension as an invalid by Frederick Samuel DeCounter On April 5, 1897 his widow, Catherine R., application number 651796 applied for a widow's pension. His file contains affadavits signed by: Henry C. O'Neal, Dr. D. L. Russell, Henry T. Shepherd, J. W. Speed, M.D.; His attorney for this claim was R. H. Mead, Huntsville, IL (P.O. Camden, IL)

Catherine applied for a military pension based on Frederick's service and pension. Affadavits for the case were signed by: Julian E. Camp, M.D.; Nelson M. Ridings; Mrs. Emma Z. Ridings; J. H. Holmes; John Chapman; John Pickinpaugh; M. L. DeCounter.

Item 1 above: Bridget Rooney, 66 of Camden, Schuyler Co., IL and Emma Ridings, 44, of Camden, Schuyler Co., IL state that they were present at the birth of Peter Frederick DeCounter on July 21, 1883, and that no physician was present. It was signed by Bridget Rooney with her mark attested by Emma Ridings; and signed by Emma Ridings with Nelson Ridings attesting her signature.
