Moore Family Reunion

    The descendants of Thomas and Mary Elmore Moore gathered at the Rushville Senior Center on Aug. 1. This was the 71st annual reunion. The first reunion was held in Rushville, back in 1928 with 145 in attendance.
    The host this year was Dean Ross, the great-great-grandson of John D. and Mary Turner Moore.
    The family members enjoyed a potluck meal. Delma Moore said the prayer, before the meal.
    After lunch, a genealogy update was submitted by Aileen Boehm.
    Births--Lindsey Nicole Moore, Sept. 22, 1998; Sean Patrick Moore, Oct. 7, 1998; Grace Nicole Bartlett, April 1, 1999.
    Deaths--Helen K. Moore, Oct. 30, 1998; Lynette Rittenhouse, Sept. 27, 1998; Mildred Horney, Nov. 15, 1998; Royal Hodges, Nov. 12, 1998; Lyle Street, Oct. 19, 1998; Martha Wilcox, March 22, 1999; Harriet Knitter, March 27, 1999; Pearl Eva Allgren, June 10, 1999.
    Also pictures were shared with each other, as well as a reading of past reunions.
    Stanley Boehm, was also celebrating his birthday. Everyone sang "Happy Birthday." Susan Geer, 92, the oldest attending, accompanied on the piano. Susan shared a couple of more songs on the piano. She had also written a sonnet entitled, "To My Mother," which was read by Dean Ross.
    The one traveling the farthest was Vail and Robert Moore from Paxton. The person having the most children present was Marlene Acheson Wiley of New Berlin.

    ROCK ISLAND--Delmar and Donna Moore.
    JACKSONVILLE--Terry, Linda and Ashley Cockerill.
    MT. STERLING--Stanley Boehm.
    RUSHVILLE--Aileen Moore Boehm, Susan Greer, Alan, Holly and Keely Acheson, Gene and Wanda Acheson, Maurine Corbridge, Yvonne Horney, Byron Ross, Maurice and Sonja Ross, Dean Ross.
    The 2000 reunion will be held the first Sunday in August, with Dean Ross as host.
