Joel Dwight Croxton Family
This is Joel Dwight Croxton Family, Joel is the son of Joel
Erwin Croxton who was born inside Fort Vannoy in Grants Pass Oregon November 5th
1855. Joel Dwight was born December 13th 1892 in Schuyler County. He married
Bertha Edna Peck October 19th 1916 Shown here are their children. Circa 1935
Byron Keith, Wallace Russell, Harold Lee, Joel Jr., Robert Byrns, Billy Peck and
Joan Dee Croxton. Young Billy Peck died in 1949 at the age of 22 in a motorcycle
accident. This family lived in Huntsville Illinois and many of the children
still remain in the area.

Joseph Gragg and Wife
This is a stunning photo of "the" Joseph Gragg and
his wife. Gragg left
Schuyler County Illinois in 1852 to cross the Oregon trail with the
Croxton family. Thomas Croxton was the Wagon Master and Gragg's diary's
told the incredible story about the crossing the plains, when he was a
young man. Gragg nearly lost his life when he came down with mountain
fever.

Myrice (Myra) Spoonamore
This photo is of Myrice (Myra) Spoonamore Croxton of
Rushville Illinois
She married Leonard Croxton son of Henry Thomas Croxton. They married
February 8th 1899. Myra had two children named Clarence Walter and
Charles Glenn Croxton. Myra passed away shortly after giving birth to
Charles, but her death date is uncertain. It is thought to be around
1903. She is buried in the Messerer Cemetary. Her father is L. John
Spoonamore and her mother is M. Martha Jones Spoonamore.
After Myra's death her mother in law Amelia Jane Stoneking Croxton
raised her two children as her own.

Julia Amelia Croxton and Orson Croxton
Julia Amelia Croxton and Orson Croxton, This is the
daughter and son of
Walter and Sarah Francis Smedley Croxton. They were married in
Rushville Illinios March 25th 1891 and had three children.
Son Lewis Croxton is not shown here. Julia Amelia was born April 26th
1893 and Orson was born about 1897. This photo is thought to be taken
1897-98 in Rushville Illinois. Walter was a coal miner, wife Sarah was
a carpet weaver. Many years later they moved to Macomb Illinois.

Henry Thomas and Permilla Stoneking Croxton
Henry Thomas & Amelia Jane Stoneking Croxton. It is
said that Amelia
was part Seneca Indian and they married October 22nd 1870 in the
Frederick Township. Henry is the son of Walter Jr. and Sarah Parks
Croxton. As a young boy he witnessed the Civil War, and worse the death
of his father when Gorilla's and bushwhackers were attacking the
residents of Shepard's Mountain deep in the Ozarks of Missouri. Henry
became a coal miner, and Amelia was a housewife who took in sewing and
laundry. Sadly she was left an orphan as a young child. However to this
union they were blessed six children. Photo Circa 1920 in Macomb
