  Doddsville Situated in theextreme northern part of Littleton township, partly in Schuyler countyand partly in McDonough county, is the cosy village of Doddsville. It waslaid out by Samuel Dodds and Paris Wheeler, July 6, 1836, and platted andsurveyed by Allen Persinger, county surveyor. That portion lying in Schuylercounty is located on the N. W. 1/4 of section 5. Samuel Dodds built thefirst house and had the first store. The village formerly did considerablelocal trade.   Camden This pleasant littlevillage is situated on the southwest quarter of section 17, and was laidout by Robert Brown and Joseph N. Ward, January 28th, 1831, and surveyedand platted by Samuel McHatton, Deputy County Surveyor. It has never hada village organization. The first building erected was the one referredto in a previous part of this article as built by Robert Brown in 1830;and the first store was established by John and Jasper N.   Butlersville It is situated onthe southwest quarter of the northwest quarter of section nine, and waslaid out and named after its original proprietor, Noah Butler, November29th, 1846, and surveyed and platted by I. M. Sweeney. Noah Butler builta store, and sold the first goods in the town, soon after it was laid out.There has been a store there most of the time since its existence.   Browning The village of Browningis situated on the W. 1/2 of section 26. It was surveyed and platted byLeonidas Horney for R. Dilworth.  The plat was recorded in the officeof the circuit clerk, May 11, 1848.  Its position on the Illinoisriver made it at an early day an important shipping point.  Vesselsfrom Pittsburg discharged their cargoes here and regular lines of packetsrun to it from St. Louis.  Long lines of teams might be seen everyday awaiting their turn at the warehouse.  The town also obtainedan early importance in a mercantile point of view.
