SchuylerFactsfromTheRushville Times October 11, 2000 A postoffice was established in Rushville on January 18, 1827, when Hart Fellowswas commissioned Postmaster by President John Quincy Adams. Fellows alsoserved as probate judge, county clerk, circuit clerk and recorder, andheld all these offices until 1835. The firstpost office in Schuyler County was a log cabin built by Postmaster HartFellows on the corner lot on the north side of the Rushville square, andserved as both a post office and general store.
