1.George Washington1 GARRETT, son of Thomas GARRETT and Susanna WEIGART,was born in Lexington County, KY 16 Apr 1818. George died 14 Apr 1911 inFranklin, Franklin County, NE, at 92 years of age. His body was interred16 April 1911 in Franklin County, NE, Green wood Cemetery.

Hemarried twice. He married Delilah LUTTRELL in Schuyler County, IL, 10 Apr1843. Delilah was born in Tennessee 5 Dec 1818. Delilah was the daughterof Shelton LUTTRELL and Sarah Ann BRYANT. Delilah died 23 Dec 1887 in Franklin,Franklin County, NE, at 69 years of age. Her body was interred 1887 inFranklin County, NE, Green Wood Cem. DelilahGarrett, wife of George W. Garrett, died at her home in Franklin county,Nebraska last Friday. She moved from Browning Township to Nebraska someten years ago. she is the daughter of Mrs. Sarah Luttrell.

NancyA Bradley was born April 17 1835 in Pennsylvania, and died at the homeof her daughter Mrs. C.C. Geiman of Bader, ILL. Dec 12th 1905, aged 70years, 6 months and 26 days. she came to the state of Ill in the fall of1848, was married to Bryant O, Garrett March 2, 1854. To this union threechildren were born, Medora E, Rhinaldo, and Bryant H. C. Garrett. Her secondmarriage (to John P. Young) took place Mar 1 1868, at Pleasantville ILL.Of this union there were born Paul B, Cynthia J, and Sarah M. Of thesetwo families those who survive the deceased are Medora E. Ambrosius, nowresiding in Missouri, Paul B. Young, in the state of Washington; CynthiaYoung and Mrs. Sarah M. Geiman, residing in Bader, ILL. The deceased waslater married to G. W. Garrett, who still survives her. Up to the timeof her death she was a faithful and obedient christian, having professedher faith in Christ in October of 1862, during the ministry of E. L. Craigof Carrollton, ILL There still survive of her brothers and sister, Mrs.Mary Westlake of Vermont, ILl and T.H. Bradley of Chicago.

Garrett,my Grandfather joined a wagon Train from St Louis through Illinois homeat Browning, Illinois and went to California in 1849 and found Gold. Hecame home and later made a second trip around the horn and worked his wayto San Francisco, CA, Then back home and then the family moved to NE andall took homesteads and lived there until his death.

G.W Garrett’s parents were Tommyand Susan Garrett, He had a paper mill and moved to Ill when a young man.He married Delilah Luttrell. he was a farmer when first married but wasvery handy with tools, could do carpenter work, Blacksmith, made many ofhis own tools. In 1849 He and his younger Brother Bryant started with agroup of others for the gold fields being opened in Calif. Followed theOregon Trail. Brother Bryant had red hair and Indians that they encountereddidn’t like red hair so he avoided being seen as much as possible. Thefound gold and returned to Illinois and purchased land. In 1856 they tooka second trip which turned out about the same, On the second trip he soldequipment and went home by ship around the continent and up the river .helped pay expenses by making wagon spokes for others in the party, Hemade a scraper deal which he used for his work,( Have one of these in thefamily yet) He And Delilah had 10 Children and in 1877 moved to Macon.Lived to be 93. died in Franklin. NE ( Next to youngest child John is Maryand Bruce’s Grandfather,) G. W. farmed near Macon retired to Franklin,Bought land in Colorado when sons Bill and John went there to homestead,( Mary Poore has a gold nugget that was given to John Garrett by his fatherG.W. that was from the gold fields, Also has the telescope they took withthem in their trip.) Obitof George Washington Garrett, April 19,1911, The Franklin County News GeorgeWashington Garrett was born at Lexington, Kentucky , April 16, 1818. Hemoved with his family to Schuyler Co., Illinois in 1836 where he liveduntil he came to Franklin Co, in 1877, In 1886 he moved to Franklin andresided here until his death which occurred April 14, 1911 at 6 a.m. Theimmediate cause of his death was haemorrhage of the stomach. He was convertedat the age of twenty-six and united with the Christian Church. In 1843he was married to Delilah Luttrell, to which union nine children were bornall of whom are living, as is also one adopted son Will. the wife diedin Franklin December 23, 1887. there are left to mourn “Grandpa’s” deathtwo sisters and the ten children, five girls and five boys. Joan and Susanlive in Illinois, Will and Morgan live in Colorado, John at McCook, Sarah,Martha, Peter, Thomas and Nancy in Franklin. Also thirty-six grand-childrenand down to the fifth generation. The funeral was held on his 93rd birthdayat the M.E. Church. Rev Gilpin conducting the service. He was buried inGreenwood cemetery under the auspices of the I.O.O.F. lodge of which hewas probably the oldest member in the state. Not often is a community calledto mourn with a family so many of whom are our friends and neighbors. Butthe mourning must end in consolation when we know the lost one has gonewhere” They’ll never say, Goodby”

Nancy died 28 Feb 1946 in Franklin County, NE, at 85 years of age.Her body was interred aft 28 Feb 1946 in Franklin County, NE, Green woodcemetery. She married Daniel W BAKER in Franklin County, NE, 2 Sep 1879.Daniel was born in Big Rock, Scott County, Iowa 2 Sep 1854. Daniel wasthe son of David BAKER and Betsy M. Daniel died 21 mar 1939 in FranklinCounty, NE, at 84 years of age. Raised Bird Garrett, son of Peter Garrettand Harriet Husted according to the 1900 census Bird is listed as adoptedson. Joanna died 24 May 1931 in Schuyler County, IL, at 86 years ofage.  She married Louis Byron RENO in Schuyler County, IL, aft 1865.Louis was born in IL 12 Oct 1832. Louis was the son of Charles RENO andRebecca SKILES. Louis died 14 Oct 1912 in Schuyler County, IL, at 80 yearsof age. 3.Andrew Morgan2 GARRETT (George Washington1) was born in Schuyler County,IL 30 Sep 1845. Andrew died Aug 1917 in Brush, Colorado, at 71 years ofage.  He married twice. He married Margaret E HAMILTON in SchuylerCounty, IL, 2 Aug 1868.  Margaret was born in IL 2 Apr 1851. Margaretdied 20 Sep 1879 in Franklin County, NE, at 28  years of age. Herbody was interred in Franklin County, NE, Chitwood/Blauvelt Cemetery. Hemarried Ida T MILLER in Franklin County, NE, 20 Mar 1884. Ida was bornin IL 8 Nov 1863. Ida died 1933 in Brush, Colorado, at 69 years of age.

4.Sarah Ann2 GARRETT (George Washington1) was born in Browning Twp, SchuylerCo. IL 10 Oct 1847. Sarah died 21 Mar 1934 in Moline, NE, at 86 years ofage. Her body was interred aft 21 mar 1934 in Moline, NE, Moline Cemetery.She married Lewis B SKILES in Schuyler County, IL, 29 Oct 1868. Lewis wasborn in Browning Twp, Schuyler Co. IL 31 Jan 1847. Lewis was the son ofMoses Justus SKILES and Melinda LYNCH. Lewis died 7 Aug 1900 in Moline,NE, at 53 years of age. His body was interred aft 7 Aug 1900 in Moline,NE, Moline Cemetery. Peter died 9 May 1924 in Torrington Wy, at 71 years of age.His body was interred 13 May 1924 in Franklin County, NE, Green wood Cemetery.He married twice. He married Harriet HUSTED in Schuyler County, IL, 30Nov 1876. Harriet was born 10 Apr 1853. Harriet died 6 Dec 1886 in FranklinCounty, NE, at 33 years of age. He married Mary Lucinda LORING abt 1888.Mary was born in Schuyler County, IL 28 Jan 1860. Mary was the daughterof John Henry LORING and Lucinda UTTER. Mary died 6 Apr 1940 in TorringtonWy, at 80 years of age. Her body was interred in Franklin County, NE, Greenwood Cemetery.

7.Thomas Jefferson2 GARRETT (George Washington1) was born in Schuyler County,IL 3 Dec 1854. Thomas died 7 Jan 1944 in Franklin County, NE, at 89 yearsof age. He married Lula JOHNSON 13 Sep 1877. Lula was born 1859. Lula died1946 at 87 years of age.
