Tomlinson Family Reunion

The descendants of D.M. and Florence Tomlinson gathered Aug. 1-8, at the homeplace, 125 E. ClintonSt., in Rushville for the 25th annual reunion and hog roast. Family andfriends traveled from as far as Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Los Angeles,Calif., and points in between to take part in the activities.
Although cooking, bakingand eating are major highlights of the gathering, there were several otheractivities throughout the week. On Tuesday evening, a private family swimparty was held at the Scripps Park Pool. Thursday, a large group traveledto Grafton to spend the day at Raging Rivers Water Park. During the week,Gale Tomlinson provided material and guidance for doing bead work, makingnecklaces and bracelets and so forth. Friday supper was the annual fishfry, followed by singing around the campfire with guitar played by RickLaw of Oswego. As always, the hog roast was held Saturday afternoon withmany friends of the family attending as well. A family worship serviceconcluded the week Sunday morning in the back yard of the family home.
Two family members havespent untold hours throughout the past year and during the reunion weekgathering and researching information on the family genealogy. Kraig Tomlinsonof Dayton, Ohio, (grandson of the late Francis and Wilma Tomlinson of Rushville)and Tina Townsend of Phoenix, Ariz., (daughter of J. P. and Sharon Tomlinsonof Rushville) posted a huge computer printout showing the lineage of theSamuel Tomlinson family which included everyone present.
Everyone enjoyed locatingthemselves and tracing things back to Samuel, as well as discussing storiesand histories.
