Copy of service record from National Archives April 2001 Enlisted at Rushville, IL 19 July 1862. He listed himself as a farmer, age 21. His papers note that he had gray eyes, dark hair, dark complexion and was 6 feet 1 inch tall. His papers were signed by M.D.S. Manlove, recruiting officer.
